What we belive

The Good News

We have the most fantastic news, but the problem is that many dismiss it without really wanting to listen.

God exists

Without God, there would be no beginning of anything; there would be nothing.  God is outside the laws of the universe… He created them.

He’s awesome

The things that exist help us to know how amazing God is.  He created everything so that we could enjoy it all, each other and Him.

We messed up

Everyone knows about Adam & Eve.  God gave them one command… don’t eat from a specific tree.  Unfortunately, although they lived the good life, they chose to rebel against this awesome God.

Bad times

Because God is love, but He is also justice, he cannot let us get away with sin; there must be a recompense.  God cursed the world, because of our sins, by allowing death and decay.

Laws to help

God gave laws to help people back to the good life but to be honest; we can’t help but break them even if we tried to keep them.

Slaves to sin

Although we have freewill to love God and our neighbour, freewill comes at a cost as it allows us to be selfish.  Unfortunately, we can’t keep God’s way, which is to love all, even our enemies.

What we want

We all want the good life and to be honest even if we have it…

What we see

We see a world that is far from the good life.  It seems as though the world is a mess.  People sin, and the Earth is cursed with suffering.

Where is God?

It makes you look up at the stars and think,  ‘Where is God in all this mess?’  If there is a God, wouldn’t He come here and sort out all this badness and bring back the good life, like in the Garden of Eden?  No more pain, no more suffering, only love, peace and happiness.

Saviour incoming

These guys, called prophets, spoke on behalf of God.  They kept talking about a saviour that would come and take us back to the good life.  Most of what they spoke about was eventually written down in The Bible.  They said how the Saviour would arrive, live and even die.  He was, however, to become an everlasting King of kings.

Saviour arrived

Who’s that?  That’s right; it’s little baby Jesus.  His birth was so famous that He literally split time in two (BC & AD).  About 2000 years ago, Jesus was born, to which we have our date system.

Someone special

The narrative of The Bible tells us that Jesus healed many people and even raised some from the dead.  History shows that He existed, and if you read the things He said, you would know there is something extraordinary about Him.

He said to see Him… is to see God.

We hated him

Although Jesus was God as a man, and He never did anything wrong, we treated Him like scum.  He was supposed to be our King of kings, but we despised Him.

We killed him

We even put Him on the cross to die.  But He told His followers that He would rise from the dead three days later.

Buried

After His death, some of His followers placed Him in a tomb.  The tomb had a large stone rolled in front of it and was guarded by Roman soldiers because if Jesus did rise from the dead, His followers would know He had power over death and shouldn’t have been executed in the first place.

Risen

Three days later, despite all the efforts to stop it from happening, Jesus rose from death.

Why we believe

Jesus was hated.  His followers were hated.  Many were thrown to lions for entertainment and burnt as roman candles to light up the roads at night.  Despite the persecution and hardships, the early followers continued to tell everyone about the risen Jesus.  They must have seen Him; there is no other explanation for their perseverance. The Good News spread rapidly with significant risk to those involved.

Love and justice

The Good News is a message of love.  Jesus died on the cross to pay off all of your sins, but only if you make Him your King.  He gives you a promise that if you will turn from your ways and follow Him, you will live forever.  Just as Jesus rose from the dead, so shall you that believe.

Times running out

Everyone has a choice to make before they die. Either to accept the free gift of Jesus, God’s Son, dying on the cross to pay off all our sins or to reject it.  Either to accept Jesus as our King or to reject Him.

Heaven for me

I know that when I die, I will go to heaven for sure.  It’s not about what I’ve done but what Jesus has done for me.  He paid a debt for me that I could never repay.  I could not make it to heaven on my own; I need the saviour, Jesus.

Follow Him

God wants us to make Jesus our Lord and Saviour.  He requires that we follow Him.  We can do that by reading what He asks of us in The Bible and obeying His commands in our daily lives, which are not burdensome.  We do this because we love Him, not because we have to.  This is called repentance, to turn from our ways and to follow His ways.

What about you?

You may not be sure, but why not give Jesus a chance?  Speak to God and say to Him:-

Heavenly Father,

I’m sorry that I’ve messed up.  Thank you for sending Jesus to die for me, paying off all my sins.  Thank You for raising Him from the dead.  Father, please accept me as Your child and reveal Yourself to me.  Forgive me for all my sins.  I want to make your Son, Jesus, the Lord of my life.  Help me to follow His commands, and please raise me from the dead to live with You forever.  Thank You Father for the promise of a new life with You.  In the name of Jesus, I pray, amen.
